Come hear how university researchers and government agencies are working together to create an Earthquake Early Warning system in California.

This lecture is free and begins at 7 PM at Sexton Auditorium in the C building at Pasadena City College in Pasadena.  There is plenty of free parking available in Lots 5, 6 and 7.

USGS Public Lecture Series and Symposium

Come join the US Geological Survey and over 10 local colleges from around the Los Angeles basin for a mini-conference held at Pasadena City College. This meeting is intended to provide students at all levels the opportunity to learn about other university programs, and aid in early career planning.

Beginning students experience science largely through coursework and typically miss out on the collaborative nature of their discipline. Given that geology programs are often much smaller than other programs in the natural sciences, this symposium is designed to fill the need for inter-collegial cooperation at the student level and to offer students experience with conference-style presentations. The symposium will provide important exposure to many students early in their careers and a chance for students from other colleges to network and meet geology majors from the area.

This meeting will also provide universities the opportunity to directly interact with prospective students and show what they have to offer for bachelors and masters degree programs, in addition to connecting with potential collaborators from around the area.

The Symposium format will be:
